Male Files Lawsuit Against Doctor For Three Year Delay In Prostate Cancer Detection

If you think you might be a victim of advanced cancer on account of medical malpractice  confer without delay with a cancer lawyer for advanced prostate cancer and other types of cancers such as stage 4 colon cancer, stage 4 breast cancer and metastatic cervical cancer.  To illustrate, think about the discussion below of a reported claim of a man whose prostate cancer was not diagnosed until it had already spread beyond the gland despite the fact that his doctor had test results that were highly suggestive of cancer for approximately 1 to 3 years prior to the man’s diagnosis.  The lawsuit involved the allegation of a lapse of time of between 1 and 3 years in diagnosing the man’s cancer.

During this time, the patient’s family doctor had at different times documented a slight firmness on the left of the prostate and a PSA of 4.18 (a near doubling of the person’s PSA from two years earlier).  Yet, the physician had not advised the patient that there were abnormal prostate cancer screening test results suspicious for cancer, had not sent the man to a specialist, and had not ordered any diagnostic testing (such as a biopsy) to establish whether the abnormal test results were due to cancer or to a benign reason.  It was 3 years after the initial finding that the man’s physician finally referred him to a Urologist (who found the cancer) after a PSA of 6.8.  By the time of the diagnosis, it turned out\ the man had advanced prostate cancer that had spread outside the gland. The man went forward with a case against his family physician for the delayed diagnosis of the cancer. The law firm that handled this lawsuit revealed that a settlement was reached with the doctor. The reported sum of the settlement was $500,000.
