One of the most common ways by which human beings display their real emotions and desires as well as explore the concept of self and social interactions is through playing. In some cases however, some children are prevented from playing thereby impeding the experience they otherwise would have gained. In the current administration of therapy, accepted methods of treatment such as cognitive behavioral therapy may seem to snub the importance and options of play altogether, but there are some novel types of therapy that closely address the concept of play in order to allow for the integration of the many advantages of creative exploration and expression .Play therapy in particular provides children with a means to establish and develop a meaningful relationship with a therapist, wherein they are able to communicate effectively without the requirement for extensive dialog or questioning.
The use of play therapy identifies the natural ability of most children to communicate their emotions and thoughts about various events with the use of non verbal, verbal, physical and artistic methods. Children have been shown to be more open to engaging in creative scenarios relating to events than they are to actually engaging in direct conversations. Through this means, Therapists are therefore able to better understand the way children might feel about an event during the course of therapy
But the advantages of play therapy do not end with its power to enhance communication between child and therapist, it is also employed in growing a child’s relation with himself and society. advantage to children for whom conversing about life may not be the easiest means of treatment.
